Investigar
Investigar el impacto del COVID-19 sobre las personas y comunidades negras/afrodescendientes incluyendo a prestatarios de salud de primera línea, y trabajadores/as de servicios esenciales, así como las barreras sistémicas para la prevención, tratamiento y manejo efectivo del COVID-19 sobre las poblaciones negras y afrodescendientes.
Identificar
Identificar estrategias para responder efectivamente al impacto del COVID-19 sobre las personas y comunidades negras y afrodescendientes, incluyendo a prestatarios/as de servicios de salud de primera línea así como a trabajadores/as de servicios esenciales en Canadá y a nivel transnacional
Crear
Crear oportunidades de traducción e intercambio de conocimientos a fin de mejorar las respuestas gubernamentales, institucionales, comunitarias e individuales frente al impacto que del COVID-19 sobre las comunidades negras y afrodescendientes, incluyendo a prestatarios/as de servicios de salud de primera línea, así como a trabajadores/as de servicios esenciales en Canadá y a nivel transnacional.
Apoyar
Apoyar la participación comunitaria y la rendición de cuentas a través de la creación de comités consultivos tanto a nivel nacional como transnacional.

Nuestro equipo de investigación interdisciplinario combina investigadores/as experimentadas/os con investigadores/as emergentes en las disciplinas de Promoción en Salud, Educación, Estudios de las Discapacidades, Administración y Políticas en Salud, Sociología, Ciencias Políticas, Psicología, Trabajo Social, Derecho, Historia, Administración de Empresas, Metodologías Cualitativas y Cuantitativas en la Investigación, Estudios de la Mujer y de Género, Medicina, y Salud Comunitaria, entro otras.
Dra. Roberta Timothy
Investigadora Principal
La Dra. Roberta Timothy se desempeña como catedrática de la Escuela de Salud Pública Dalla Lana en la Universidad de Toronto. Con más de 30 años de experiencia en salud comunitaria, la Dra. Timothy utiliza en sus investigaciones un análisis interseccional y crítico sobre la raza. La Dra. Timothy está intrínsecamente vinculada con las comunidades negras transnacionales (globales) ya que prioriza en sus investigaciones, cátedras y trabajo comunitario un marco de análisis sobre la salud crítico, panafricano y feminista. La Educación para la Resistencia, la cual constituye una metodología creativa que la Dra. Timothy ha desarrollado y practicado, garantiza que todas sus investigaciones sean lideradas por y para las comunidades negras, desde un marco centrado en el empoderamiento y emancipación.

Dr. Pascal Djiadeu
Pascal Djiadeu is the research analyst and methodologist consultant of the BHMCV19 project at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. He is also a part-time assistant professor at McMaster University, in the department of health research methods evidence and impact, and a lecturer at Humber College/University of Guelph Humber where he teaches Applied Epidemiology in the BHScW program in the faculty of health sciences and wellness. His research focuses on HIV implementation sciences, research methodologies and, health inequities and disparities.

Las áreas de interés de Mercedes incluyen Psicoterapia anti opresiva, Salud Mental Comunitaria, Psicología de la Salud, trauma, crecimiento postraumático, duelos, VIH, y metodologías investigativas y de traducción de conocimientos interseccionales.
